Predictable term
Teaching a first grade classroom
A silver lining
I am a predictable term substitute, which means that I follow through until the end of the school year.
There are so many things that I love about being a predictable term substitute such as meeting a whole new classroom, testing out my teaching beliefs and practices, learning what works best for me when planning and learning, and being valued as a teacher. I really enjoy making the classroom my own and putting my own “twist” on routines in the classroom. This year has been a blast and each of my students has a peice of my heart.
There are a couple of things that absolutely stink about a predictable term substitute position. One is that I am not guaranteed a position at the same school or even in the same district once the school year is over. Fortunately PTS are considered for openings within the district, so my fingers are crossed that I will land a spot in the fall. Another is that I may have to leave a classroom and school community that I just started feeling 100% comfortable in. As the days to the end of the school year start to dwindle down, my heart aches for all of the unknown that will be coming my way.
I am a predictable term substitute and I LOVE my classroom community, school community, and students. I will carry them with me in my heart, no matter what happens.
How great that you have found/created such a special community! Wishing you all the best as you move forward.

I’m so happy to hear this has been a good experience for you. I’ve been there and feel you. What’s meant to be will be- ANY school and group of students will be lucky to have you! ❤️
